Week 3 – Day 1 – Monday Read Galatians 4:4-5 SOAP Galatians 4:4-5 – To redeem the lostwk03d01

MONDAY GALATIANS 4:4-5 4 But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.

O – As I read this morning, I was struck at HOW MUCH of this was God’s plan – in action, from the very beginning.
• When the fullness of time had come – at the very right time, in God’s plan, when all the dynamics had come together
• God sent forth His Son – Jesus, God’s Son, fully divine, fully God, without sin, sent from heaven
• Born of a woman – Jesus, Mary’s son, fully human, living as a man on earth
• Born under the law – born into a Hebrew family, following the law, without sin
• To redeem those who were under the law – Jesus was the perfect sacrifice for our sins, He died in our place for our sins
• SO THAT we might receive adoption as sons – now, we can become children of God, with the rights and privileges of being His Child
THIS was God’s plan – from the very beginning, meant to save us from our sins, and bring us into a relationship with Him.

A – God had a plan for Jesus. It meant sacrifice, leaving heaven, and living a life here on earth. But, it brought us to Him. Every detail, from the covenants that God made with Abraham, and Moses, and David, and others, to fulfilling prophecy in the Old Testament, was planned by Him from the very beginning. Even Jesus, His Son, was from the beginning. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God….The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:1,14 – NIV)

God’s plan – worked out in Jesus’ birth, life, and death – and resurrection. That Plan was to bring us into a relationship with Him as His children. It included every element needed to bring us to Him.

How can I NOT trust Him? How can I NOT believe in His plan, not only for humankind, but for me? As His child, I can celebrate His birth, knowing that I am part of His plan, His redemptive story. I can see His Plan at work in my life. My response, my task, is to help bring others to the knowledge of His plan for them. And – to live my life in response to His great gift.

P – Father God, thank You for Your love for us, Your Plan at work. You BROUGHT us to Yourself. You BOUGHT us with Jesus’ sacrifice. You BRING us, today, to Yourself, as Your children. Thank You. Father, may I live my life today in full knowledge of Your love, of Jesus’ sacrifice, and of Your Plan, working through me. May I be the bearer of Your love and redemption to others. Amen.
