God With Us – The Coming of Our Savior

Week 2 – Day 5 – Friday Read Matthew 27:46 SOAP Matthew 27:46 – It meant being forsaken by Godwk02d05

FRIDAY MATTHEW 27:46 46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” that is, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

O – Such agony here. Not only not welcomed by “his own”, but also forsaken by His Father. It had to be. God could not look on sin – and He bore ours. For that time, He was alone. Forsaken. Knowing it had to be. To break the chains of sin.

A – A baby born to die. I typically think of “a baby….”. This week has been one of reflecting what Christ did for me. But – what He did, KNOWING what was to come. KNOWING that He would be rejected by His own. KNOWING that He would be forsaken by His Father. KNOWING that He would die a criminal’s death – yet innocent. KNOWING that His glory would be veiled and that He would be living as human, among humans. KNOWING that He would have to leave the honor and glory from His rightful place in Heaven.

Oh, may I not lose that KNOWING as well. KNOWING that He did this – for me. May I live today, in the power of His love, in the peace that He only can give, passing that along to others.

P – Father God, thank You for working in my heart, today. Thank You for helping me to see what Jesus did – for me, KNOWING all that it entailed. Help me to live my life today, in the KNOWING of His sacrifice, and in the love that He gave to me. May I pass that on to others today. Amen.

Born to Die (Bebo Norman) – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7S5cQhx2nZA&index=70…

They never knew a dark night
Always had the Son’s light on their face
Perfect in glory, broken by the story
Of untold grace, come that day
Majesty had come down, glory had succumbed now
To flesh and bone
In the arms of a manger, in the hands of strangers
That could not know, just who they hold
And the angels filled the sky
All of heaven wondered why
Why their King would choose to be
Be a baby born to die
And all fell silent for the cry of an infant
The voice of God
Was dividing history for those with eyes to see
The Son would shine from earth that night

And the angels filled the sky
All of heaven wondered why
Why their King would choose to be
Be a baby born to die, be a baby born to die
To break the chains of guilt and sin
To find us here, to pull us in
So we can join in heaven’s song
And with one voice around the throne
All the angels filled the sky
And I can’t help but wonder why
Why this King would choose to be
Be a baby born for me, be a baby born
Be a baby born to die
